Blog Post Stage 1

For the portfolio project we are making a mystery/thriller film. The conventions are low key lighting, kidnapper, and flashbacks, and low angle and the high angle shots at certain points.

As I'm looking at other horror films opening scenes I'm seeing low key lighting.
The opening scene shows knives and scissors and other weapons with what looks like blood stains in the back indicating its a thriller film. The opening scene doesn't show much action its just the character touching his weapons.

Shot by shot analysis

This shot is a low angle tilted up

this shot is a pov shot showing his scissors and then continues to grab more of his weapons

this shot is a close up shot showing all his weapons

this shot is a pov shot again

pov shot but turned sideways

This shot is a Pov shot showing weapons

This shot is a POV shot showing weapons but turned sideways

This shot is a medium shot showing weapons

Another POV shot with weapons

The location of this opening scene isn’t very clear I see that it might be in a dark basement. All the shots are taken in the same location for in low key lighting.

My film is meant for thriller movie lovers who love the mystery and the jump scares.
Titles in thriller films are sometimes in color red and on upper case, very big, and sometimes with blood dripping.
Thriller films have a stereotype that all dumb blonde characters end up dying.
